My name is Claire Hunter and I am 19 years old. I am currently attending McLennan Community College in Waco, TX on a full golf scholarship. I live in Scotland, in a little town called Aberdeen. I have been in Waco for almost two years in January 1999. I hope to graduate from MCC in the summer 1998.

My Background

I was born on March 21st 1978. I am from Aberdeen Scotland. I have been here for almost 1 year and a half. This will be my third semester at McLennan Community College. I have lived in Scotland all my life until this great opportunity came along to come over to the U.S I support Aberdeen Soccer club, I have supported them all my life. My favourite golfers are Nick Faldo, Fred Couples. I am a member of Deeside golf club back in Aberdeen, Scotland.

My Interests

I play golf for McLennan Community College in Waco, Tx. I have played golf since I was 9 years old and have always wanted to come over to the us on golf scholarship I also have many other interests such as I like to play soccer, tennis, volleyball, anything that involves out doors and being active. I like to go out with friends and have a great laugh, also I like to go out and eat at all the diffferent restaurants in Waco, the food is brilliant over here. My favourite restaurants is Chili's, Barbecue, and for dessert I like Dairy Queen. I love being over in the US, its brilliant to be here with the weather being the way its is (HOT AND HUMID). Since I have been here I have come to be a country lover of music, George Strait is one of them that I like the most.

My Family

I love my family dearly, but they are a long way away from me as they are in Scotland and sometimes that can get very hard. My mothers name is Yvonne and my dad's name is Gary, I have a cat and also a dog, his name is Kyle. I live in the town of Aberdeen (North East of Scotland). My mum works as a dental receptionist, and my dad works in Russia working with oil, he works 4 weeks on then he gets either 3 weeks or 4 weeks at home. My family lives in a house on the outskirts of Aberdeen, close to the cliffs of the North Sea. My granda and grandma also live in Aberdeen, there names are Margaret and Alex. I have another grandma that also lives in Aberdeen, My auntie and uncel and cousin live about 4 hours drive in a place called Carluke (South of Aberdeen). I have a youger brother, his name is Ryan and he is 17 years old , he has just gone home after being over here in in TX for 2 weeks. He came over for a 2 week holiday in Waco, here he has played alot of golf courses he also is a good golfer and he would like to come over here on scholarship to play fro McLennan golf team. I love my family very much and cant wait to see them in the summer.

My Friends

I have lots of old friends in Scotland, and a lot of new friends here in the states. My roomate which is Avery Litton has been such a great friend to me since I have been here in Waco (Picture of Avery and myself below). Avery to me is a best friend and she has always been there for me when things are down, I love her dearly. Avery came to Scotland with me last Summer(1997), she was in Scotland for 4 weeks and it was loads of fun to have her there. (Picture below of Avery and Myself in my home town of Aberdeen which was there festival). Avery has been my roomate in TX for almost a year and a half and we have become great friends. She is a great person to have as a friend and I will miss her when we have to leave to go to University's after this summer. I have loads of friends back home in Scotland but I only get to see them when I get the chance to go home for the holidays. I have been home twice since I have been in TX and will be getting home on the 6th July this summer. Avery also plays golf for McLennan.

Chris & Avery

This is Chris and Avery. They are two of the bestest friends I have here in TX, they are so much fun to be around. Chris comes from Canada, and Avery comes from Austin, TX. Chris came to Waco last fall and he plays on the Guys golf team for McLennan.

The McLennan Golf Team

Our golf team consist of.... We are picked to win the 1998 JUCO National Tournament in May 17th through 20th. The golf course that we are playing this tournament is in Baird, Abileene. We are the number one Junior College girls golf team in the TX. We have played 8 tournaments and have won 6 and came second in one and then third in the other one. We are hoping to be taking back the National Championship trophy to MCC in May.
